Updates, Pre-Orders, and Development

It's been a busy week since the Kickstarter has ended as we dive head-first into development. From here on out we will be sending regular updates (about every two weeks) to keep everyone informed about our progress.

We've been working on pulling together all of our prior documentation into an early alpha version of Critical Core and on Monday we'll be having a team review. We've also made a few revisions on the layout and design of our pregenerated character sheets - they will be even more simple and distraction-free than ever before.

In about one week we will be sending out surveys via Backerkit and it's important that you respond as soon as possible. We'll be asking about your shipping address, preferred donation options, and you will also have the option to upgrade your pledge level.

An Incredible Finish!

We are totally blown away!

It is difficult to properly express the gratitude, excitement, and appreciation that we have for everyone that has helped support us and contribute to making this Kickstarter so successful.

This campaign isn’t just a success in creating a cool product. It is a step forward in helping the world change the way it views neurodiversity and the power of role-playing games. At Game to Grow we often say that we want to put a game into every school, every home, every hospital and every library. The world would be a better place if we all played games together, and with your help we’re closer to making that a reality. 

Over 700 kits will be donated to communities that will benefit!

We would like to extend a massive thank you to mcgarrybowen, and to our stretch goal contributors Shanna Germain, Jerry Holkins, and Alex Abrate from Level Up Dice.

Lastly, we want to give a big thank you to all of you, the backers and supporters of this campaign. You made this project a reality. Critical Core has the power to do so much good in the world, and it exists because you helped make it happen. 

A few words before we sign-off for the evening:

  • We will be using BackerKit to enable existing backers to order additional Critical Core sets. Surveys will be sent out in about a week or two.
  • Pre-orders will also be available through BackerKit, but of course all of our backers will get priority on shipping dates.
  • As we settle into development we will be sending out regular updates to keep you informed of our progress

We’re back from PAX East! The Jerry Holkins Adventure Module is UNLOCKED!

We are so excited to announce that our $150k stretch goal level, a digital adventure module co-designed with Jerry Holkins of Penny Arcade, has been unlocked! The support from the wide world of gamers and established game designers has been tremendous. This adventure module, along with the one co-designed with Shanna Germain, solidifies Critical Core as not just another therapeutic or educational tool, but a valuable access point to bring a new group of individuals into the life-enriching social hobby of tabletop role-playing games. 

Adam Johns, Virginia Spielmann, and I returned from PAX East exhausted but reinvigorated to continue developing Critical Core! We spoke to so many people who were inspired by the project. Game designers who were exhibiting at the convention were excited to learn about the success of the Kickstarter and wanted to know how they could contribute to encourage further success. Teachers, therapists, and librarians were excited to learn how many people were supporting the project to donate kits to good causes, and we spoke with parents of autistic youth who were so excited to use Critical Core during family game nights.

This is all thanks to you and your continued efforts to share this project with the wider world.  

We’ll keep you updated with new developments and new stretch goals!  We still have three weeks left in our campaign, and we’re far from finished!
