An update with pictures!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Sep 17, 2021 at 09:10:40 PM

Greetings backers!

We’ll be receiving a physical sample from the manufacturer in the coming weeks, but we’ve already been sent some photos of the materials and I’m so excited to share them with you.

Here is the map of Toverus, the battlemat, and the game master screen:

Here are the punch-out tokens to be used in combat, as well as the bonus tokens!

Here are the character sheets featuring the original artwork. We’ll also have digital downloads of superbacker art available once they’re finished:

Once the manufacturer sends physical samples to us, we’ll make sure the quality meets our standards and proceed with the full manufacturing process. We’re eager to hold them in our hands and so excited to get them to you. We’re expecting manufacturing to complete and physical distribution to begin before the end of the year and we’ll keep you updated as that timeline develops!

If you have any questions or comments  please don’t hesitate to send them to [email protected].

Best,

The journey continues!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Aug 12, 2021 at 08:41:30 AM

Greetings Backers!

Manufacturing continues according to plan! We’ve clarified and cleaned up bleed lines, discussed stitched and glued book spines, which, believe it or not, has nothing to do with the combat mechanics of the game! We are looking forward to getting our hands on the sample being sent to our office, and excited to post the pictures when they arrive.

Our character artist, Grant Griffin, is working on our additional character art featuring the faces of some of our super backers. I look forward to sharing those with you soon.

We’re also working on the scripts and production for the three Critical Core companion videos, starting with “What is a TTRPG anyway?”, a video that many have requested to share with potential stakeholders so they can propose Critical Core groups in schools or other similar settings.

Is there another video you’d like to see us make? Let us know in the comments!

Thank you all for your continued support of this project!

Best,

An update and some new art!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Jun 25, 2021 at 03:44:19 AM

As we mentioned in our last post, we submitted all of the production files to our manufacturer!

...Then they wrote to us requesting the files be renamed and reorganized into different file structures!  But that’s done now too!

The estimated shipping timeline is still the same, and we’re hoping for a late fall delivery. We’ll keep you posted as that becomes more clear.

Grant Griffin, our lead character artist, has been working on the extra character art for some of the Grand Benefactor backers. Here are some in-progress sketches of the Tiefling Monk and Dwarf Cleric:

As for the other three digital modules included in the Kickstarter, we’ve met with all of the guest authors and have mapped out the plots. There are exciting things in store for your adventurers, including magical floating islands and the strange disappearance of adults. We’re now working on the DOTS for the Star of Elivagar storyline, after which we’ll source the art and set them in layout while we focus on the writing for the other two plots.

Thank you to all of the backers and pre-order purchasers who have shared their feedback!  We’d love for you to share your stories and your feedback with us here: https://gametogrow.org/criticalcore/feedback/

We’re speaking with retailers about stocking Critical Core in game stores, so if you’re a retailer, please send us an email at [email protected]!

Thanks again, for all of your support!

We're sending to manufacturing THIS WEEK! (But still taking your feedback!)
over 3 years ago – Sun, May 30, 2021 at 02:06:06 PM

Backers and Pre-Orderers,

We hope you've enjoyed the digital materials! We love seeing the enthusiasm and hearing the stories you've been sharing, so please keep it up!

We're eager to get physical kits into your hands, and we're sending final proofs to manufacturing this week! We have a rough estimate of 3 months for manufacturing and distribution from our overseas manufacturer (though we'll update you with progress along the way),  and we're hoping we can have some physical kits to show off by the time potential in-person gaming conventions occur again later this fall.

Also, we'd love to collect your feedback on your experience with Critical Core! We're collecting testimonials and positive stories, as well as any errata you may have noticed. (We already caught a few, but we'd love to know if you found any more!) You can put your feedback here: www.gametogrow.org/criticalcore/feedback

We won't finalize mailing addresses until just before we're ready to ship, but if you know you'll need to confirm or update your address, please access your Backerkit survey by visiting criticalcore.backerkit.com.

Are you a streamer wanting to use Critical Core in your stream? Please make sure to email us at [email protected], as we'd love to support your stream and boost the signal!

Warm regards,

We're Sending Digital Materials for Physical Kit Pre-Orders!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 22, 2021 at 05:42:14 PM

Backers and Pre-Order Supporters,

We've received so many enthusiastic emails from people excited about digital downloads!

...And so many emails from people wondering where their download links are!

Looking through the messages, it seems that many pre-order supporters believed that pre-ordering the physical kit through BackerKit (after the Kickstarter closed) included the digital materials, which was not originally our plan. The bundle was originally a perk of being a backer of the Critical Core Kickstarter.

Our team met to figure out how we were going to respond to the situation, and ultimately decided to send digital downloads at no additional cost to everyone who pre-ordered the physical kits through BackerKit.

Because the proceeds from each sale of Critical Core support Game to Grow’s nonprofit mission, this was a difficult decision to make. Ultimately, we’re distributing these additional materials at no cost because we want more people playing Critical Core. Physical kits are still a few months away, and we don’t want you to wait that long before you and your players benefit from it.

We hope that you enjoy the digital materials! If the inclusion of the digital kits (a $30 value) was meaningful to you, we encourage you to consider making a donation in support of our mission so that we can help more people in our game-based social groups and continue to promote the use of games as therapeutic and educational tools.

You can make a donation at www.gametogrow.org/support, and if you’d like a reminder of Game to Grow’s mission and values, please visit our website at www.gametogrow.org/about

Be on the lookout for those digital materials soon!

If you still have feedback or issues with the download, please send an email to [email protected], and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Thank you all for your continued support, and please continue sharing your stories!

Best,
